Visual Reflection Questions

Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me – watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly
Matthew 11:28-30 (MSG)

  1. Sit with the spaciousness the scene in the photograph depicts. How are you experiencing the openness? Is it restful or overwhelming? Where does your mind go? Notice, perhaps, what your body is telling you about your experience of this photograph–do you feel uncomfortable, calm, fidgety, relaxed?
  2. Where do you find yourself in this image today? The one walking? The point-of-view observer? Who is the other?
  3. Read Jesus’ invitation in Mt.11:28-30? How does it sit with you to be invited into Jesus’ rhythm of life? What could it look like for you to lean into the unforced rhythms of grace?
